Welcome to the Department Of Botany .

In Nature’s lap, surrounded by lash greenery with rich biodiversity, there has been a candid demand of opening Bio-science department in Sovarani Memorial College, Jagatballavpur, and, therefore, in 1999 the HS Biological Science Department was upgraded to Under Graduate Botany and Zoology Departments by our far-sighted first faculty member and HOD, Dr. Barun Kumar Roy. The founder of this Department, Dr. Roy, who made his mark as trail-blazer faculty of this College, also bestowed the same glow on this department as head of the Department of Botany until his retirement in 2013. The Department and its present three faculty members remember with deep gratitude Dr Barun Kumar Roy for the commendable and meritorious service rendered by him.

The present faculty members are continuously engaged in innovative and updated teaching-learning programme and publishing their views in National/International journals from time to time for the betterment of our students and College reputation.
